NAUTICAL AT WORK: THE PIRATE EDITION

Before your mind conjures up mythologized images of characters like Captain Hook and ‘savvy’ modern pirates like Jack Sparrow or even fictional ‘Neverland Pirates’ – let me tell you that pirates of the 16th and 17th Century were among the most fashionably dressed. They wore the best quality clothes (that they could lay their hands on) and paraded themselves in a most superior manner.

So, simply borrowing from their ideology of looking ‘their fashionably best at work’, here I am sharing some nautical inspiration for office outfits!

And no, you needn’t be Elizabeth Swan or Blackbeards’ daughter to flaunt these chic looks!

Telling you that striped tees are a wardrobe essential is almost like saying ‘the sky is blue’. It’s obvious! So, if you don’t own one yet, it’s worth the investment (plus, it’s almost always the key nautical element in this ensemble, so…)

What I’m doing here, in this first nautical work-look is... following a cardinal fashion rule: When in doubt, wear all black – the easiest way to instantly look chic and put-together. It’s almost like wearing armor, that gives you a sudden surge of confidence.

So, a sleeveless cape, wide-legged textured culottes and fancy black boots – given a nautical touch with a white and navy striped crop top; This is me, being a pirate at work!

In this second ensemble, I've decided to play it up with colours; So, a striped crop top - given, with coral trousers and a super cute skull printed neon scarf (just to give it that pirate touch!
