What is it about the colour grey that makes it so absolute and ‘un-open’ to interpretation? An ironic question, considering that, in literature, ‘grey-area’ is looked upon as ambiguous and uncertain, used as an excuse for all sorts of happenings.
A colour that stands as a compromise between black and white, a bridge between right and wrong, hiding a wall of turmoil- grey has been accused of portraying dullness, uniformity, and unfortunately, boredom. I, however, disagree. In fashion, shades of grey, like slate, dove, ash can be combined to create styles and looks that are unparalleled examples of refinement, class, strength, and a plethora of other positive attributes.
Since the 1870s upto 2000, grey has been a popular colour in the fashion industry, used for men’s work attire, mainly suits, and then adopted by women to rise up on the gender equality scale. In the recent years it has come into vogue again, with chic tonal outfits, much like the one I styled from my wardrobe.
Four completely different shades/tints, yet so fluent and stylish. This is a perfect city girl’s outfit for a normal day out in the chilly fall weather.
